Spanish Step by Step

Testimonials

I have known Amanda for the last 2 months in which time I have had a lot of fun and good learning.

My Spanish was very limited when we arrived and I thought that as we are now living in Spain the time had come to get down to some serious learning.  I found the thought daunting as I am not in my twenties or even my forties, so the learning curve was going to be much more difficult.

Having called various other “Spanish Teachers” from local mags and local papers, I came across Amanda Wilcox who ran “Spanish Step by Step” who by far outdid any of the others I had spoken to.  We met up at a local coffee house and I instantly liked her and her way of teaching, and we got started straight away.

I can only say that she is a very bubbly person and an extremely good teacher, she doesn’t put any pressure on you, but is dedicated to making sure that you learn.  I will be sorry when my course comes to an end so I can truly recommend Amanda as a teacher to all who wish to learn Spanish.

As a University student reading Modern languages, I have come across a wide range of material aimed at all ages, some material aimed at a more specific age group than others.

I have been learning Spanish since last October, and I could not have progressed through the GCSE curriculum so quickly without going through the “Spanish Step by Step” coursework by Amanda Jane Wilcox.

What distinguishes this coursework from many books of Spanish is how coherently it is presented to the reader. The coursework is split into sections, all of which contain the vocabulary required for each topic with plenty of exercises and tests designed to review your knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary from each section. There are no strict lessons involved, insofar as you can progress through each section at your own pace and in your own time.

Having a tutor by your side is a great way to learn, however this coursework allows you to learn on your own, especially with the numerous learning and revision practices that this coursework contains. The coursework also contains illustrations for some topics, which are normally hard to find in many language books, in which lengthy texts and descriptions dominate the material contained.  This coursework prefers a much more straightforward learning approach, accompanied by clear annotations.

The “Spanish Step by Step” coursework includes all the material that is studied in the GCSE syllabus as well as material relevant to ‘A level’, such as learning the Subjunctive moods. Therefore, this coursework accommodates both those who had no knowledge of Spanish whatsoever, like me, and those who have already studied Spanish GCSE but wish to revise vocabulary, tenses and learning how to translate sentences from Spanish to English and vice-versa.

I tend to feel that you always achieve more in learning another language if you put regular time into learning the vocabulary and consolidating the material given to you. The format of this “Spanish step by Step” coursework favours the majority of language learners, where learning by small chunks every day is much more appropriate than trying to consolidate huge scoops of information. The coursework is very user-friendly and is aimed at both logical and creative-minded people: whether you prefer to go through the same exercise on a continuous basis or whether you would rather use colours and highlighters in order to remember grammar rules. So the coursework has both flexibility and structure for beginners. And for that reason, I highly recommend anyone to make use of this material.

Having Amanda teach my daughter Jade Spanish was the best decision I made.  They seemed to work as a team and at a pace to suit Jade.  She made the lessons fun and helped Jade gain in confidence each week.

After just a few short months – Jade was accepted for Spanish secondary school, I was delighted!

I found learning Spanish with Amanda easy because she uses a quick and easy method.  She is also patient with her students.  The Spanish courses helped me a lot at school.  I also was able to finish the course in about three months.

Amanda`s method of teaching Spanish is enjoyable.  Every lesson is well prepared and thought through.

Her step by step approach encourages the student to be lead, each week, to a new level.

Success is easily available because of how she teaches.  She encourages me week by week to grasp all aspects of learning a new foreign language.  I would not hesitate in recommending Amanda as a Spanish teacher.
